From a Customer Sketch to a CNC-Ready Cut List - Without the Million-Dollar Mistakes
A vertical SaaS that turns human design intent into precise, machine-ready production data - for an industry where one millimetre of error means the cabinet doesn't fit.
Built for the woodworking and custom cabinetry industry, this platform replaces hand-drawn sketches, spreadsheets, and CNC retyping with a single design-to-production flow - finished with AI-assisted layouts, structured customer input, and machine-specific exports.
Before us
Custom cabinetry is one of the most operationally fragile industries we have ever worked in. Every job is bespoke. Every dimension is sensitive. A 1mm error and a kitchen cabinet doesn't fit the wall. The handoff from a homeowner's idea to a CNC-ready cut list lived in spreadsheets, paper notes, and the heads of a few expert operators. Pricing was slow. Verification was nearly impossible. Errors compounded down the line.
What we built
We built a single platform that lets a customer or contractor upload a kitchen plan, get AI-assisted cabinetry suggestions, refine the design inside the application, and generate machine-specific CNC exports for the exact materials, panel sizes, edge bands, and finishing profiles required. Everything from human intent to CNC output now lives in one auditable, structured flow.
Four months later
Production preparation went from a multi-day expert ritual to a structured process anyone in the workshop could execute. Re-entry into CNC machines disappeared. Human errors dropped sharply. Workshops scaled output without adding a single new specialist.
A 1 mm error kills the entire kitchen
Custom woodworking is unforgiving in a way most software industries never experience. A misread on a wall measurement, a mistyped panel width, a confused finishing direction - any of them can write off a kitchen, a built-in, an entire room of cabinetry. The expensive part isn't the wood. It's the rework, the missed install date, and the trust the contractor loses with the homeowner.
The translation gap nobody had solved
Every cabinet shop on earth runs into the same problem: customers describe what they want in human terms, machines need millimetre-perfect dimensions, and the only thing connecting those two worlds is a tired specialist with a tape measure and a spreadsheet. That bridge person is the bottleneck, the single point of failure, and - quite often - the most expensive employee in the building.
Treat the entire workflow as one continuous design surface
We refused to build a chain of disconnected tools. Instead, we designed a single end-to-end flow where the homeowner's plan, the contractor's adjustments, the workshop's material selection, and the CNC machine's input all share the same structured representation of the project. Every step inherits the rigor of the one before it.
The product had to do something nobody had done elegantly: turn natural human design intent into structured CNC output, without losing nuance.
Six steps from a wall photo to a cut list
Plan upload
Customers or contractors upload a kitchen layout in any common format.
AI-assisted cabinetry layout
The system proposes one or more cabinetry arrangements based on the plan, with editable defaults.
Refinement in-app
Contractors adjust dimensions, add or move units, swap finishes, and lock the design directly in the application.
Material & panel calculation
Once locked, the platform breaks the design into exact panel sizes, sheet allocations, and waste-optimized cut lists.
Edge, finish, and detail logic
PVC banding, painted parts, CNC profiles, drilling templates and finishing direction are all handled by an embedded fabrication logic engine.
Machine-specific export
The system generates CNC-ready output tailored to the workshop's specific machine, ready for direct production.
Suggestion, not replacement
We were careful with where AI lived in this product. It analyzes the layout and suggests cabinetry options. It does not pretend to know more than the contractor about how a real kitchen will be lived in. Every AI output is editable. Every decision is auditable. The machine never overrules the human, but it dramatically lowers the cognitive load before the human even sits down.
Structured input that doesn't feel like a form
Customers and contractors interact through a guided experience that captures the right structured inputs without ever feeling like a tax return. Photos, measurements, finishes, edge styles - all collected with the kind of clarity that prevents misinterpretation downstream.
A workshop that finally trusts its inputs
Operators stop being human translators. They become reviewers, refiners, and quality gatekeepers. The dashboards built for them surface only the decisions that matter: material choices, edge logic, machine assignment - never the noise of re-entering dimensions.
Speaking every CNC machine fluently
The hardest part of vertical software for any manufacturing industry is the long tail of machine variants. We built a clean adapter layer that lets the same source design produce machine-perfect exports for the specific CNC devices each workshop owns - without forcing the workshop to standardize their floor.
“We used to lose a kitchen a month to a measurement mistake nobody could trace back to its source. Now we don't lose any. The system holds the design. The design holds the truth.
Precision is a feeling, not a feature
Every screen, every interaction, every default in this product was tuned to a single feeling: confidence in the numbers. We treated visual restraint as a quality requirement. The interface respects the operator's focus. It never asks for an opinion when a measurement is the actual answer.
A look inside the platform
Real product surfaces, code-driven. No screenshots, no static images.
A homeowner's sketch becomes a structured cabinetry layout
The AI layer reads the uploaded floor plan, suggests cabinetry that fits the space, and lets the contractor adjust everything before locking the design.
Every dimension, every material, every edge - adjustable
Every sheet of MDF, optimized for the lowest possible waste
Speaking every CNC machine fluently
From customer intent to CNC-ready output, in one continuous flow
What changed inside the workshop
- CNC operators stopped re-entering dimensions entirely
- Quote-to-cut cycle time fell by roughly 70%
- Dimensional errors at install time dropped to near zero
- Throughput per workshop increased meaningfully without new headcount
- Specialist operators were freed from translation work to focus on quality
A vertical SaaS that respects how the work is actually done
Custom cabinetry is one of the oldest crafts on earth. Software has tried - and failed - to digitize it for decades, usually by treating the workshop as a generic ERP. We took the opposite approach: we built a product that listens to the craft, structures only what should be structured, and disappears everywhere else. The result is a quiet, precise, deeply respectful piece of vertical software.
